About Us

1st Stoughton Scout Group has been running since 1909 and has witnessed a variety of changes in the area and within Scouting from the start of new sections and new activities. Throughout this time, the group has kept up offering a mixture of traditional scouting as well as new skills
The group has 4 sections:

  • Beaver Scouts – for young people between the ages of 6 to 8
  • Cub Scouts – for young people between the ages of 8 to 10½
  • Scouts – for young people between the ages of 10½ to 14
  • Explorer Scouts – for young people between the ages of 14 to 18 year

Across these sections, we offer a huge range of indoor and outdoor activities which the young people get to shape through their input. From your first night away as a Beaver, your first hike and learning to map reading as a Cub, to backwoods cooking and expeditions as a Scout and community service, climbing, and shooting as an Explorer; the wealth of diverse, fun, challenging and adventurous opportunities to all the young people are amazing.

The Group is run by an executive committee made up of leaders and non-uniform members. They help ensure we bring great scouting to the young people of Stoughton.

The Group also has various teams to help ensure the hut and surrounding area are clean and safe.

If you would like more information about the group, the executive committee or can help with any of our support teams please use the “Contact Us” link at the top of the page.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
